Simple anonymous statistics

We count public page views by country, broad traffic source and page, plus estimator starts, results viewed, enquiry-button clicks and project regions selected. These statistics are used solely to understand and improve this website and estimator. Each request adds to a daily counter. We do not keep an individual event record, visitor identifier or browsing history.

There are no analytics tracking cookies, fingerprinting, unique or returning visitor recognition, city records, individual visit times, time-on-site tracking, displayed-price histories, advertising measurement or cross-site tracking. We do not put names, email addresses, project descriptions, drawings, raw IP addresses, full referring URLs or query strings into statistics. A referring page is reduced in the browser to a broad source category; its URL is not sent to our statistics endpoint.

You can turn statistics off

Basic statistics are enabled by default without a consent popup. Under the UK statistical-purposes exception, they are used only to improve this service, aggregated immediately and accompanied by this explanation and a free, simple opt-out. Any minimal personal-information processing before aggregation is based on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the service. We respect previous analytics rejections, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals.

The control is also in the estimator footer. Turning statistics off does not affect prices, the estimator, forms or drawing uploads. Your choice is remembered on this browser for 180 days in rg_analytics_opt_out, an essential preference cookie containing only 1 or 0, with no unique identifier. Clearing cookies can reset that choice. You can change it using the same control. Because existing totals cannot be linked back to you, we cannot remove your past contribution from anonymous totals.

Location, access and retention

Cloudflare’s network supplies an approximate country using the connection information; our analytics does not store the IP address or send it to another geolocation provider. VPNs and mobile networks can affect the country shown. Totals are held by UK calendar day and one category at a time, without combining the categories into visitor profiles, and retained for comparisons over time. The dashboard and data endpoints are restricted to the authenticated site owner.

This simplified system replaces the previous consent-based visitor tracking. Previous individual analytics records and hashed visitor identifiers have been removed. The former visitor, session and consent cookies are retired and cleared when returning browsers next use the updated site. Only historical totals without visitor identifiers are retained separately.

Hosting and service providers

The site uses OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare hosting and storage. They process network and service information to operate and secure the website; this is separate from our anonymous statistics. Short-lived security rate limits are used only to prevent abuse, not to identify visitors for analytics. Provider infrastructure may operate internationally. See OpenAI’s privacy policy and Cloudflare’s privacy policy for their processing and safeguards. Private owner sign-in uses ChatGPT authentication; owner pages are not counted.

Quotation enquiries

If you submit an enquiry, we store the contact details, project description, selected scope, estimate and drawings or sharing link you provide so we can assess the project, respond and prepare a quotation. This is separate from analytics and is not a mailing-list sign-up. We process it to take steps at your request before a contract, or for our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries and securing the service. Enquiry alerts are sent to Ring Geospatial through Resend. Project records are retained as needed to handle the enquiry and any resulting engagement, subject to applicable record-keeping obligations.

Your rights

You can request access, correction, erasure or restriction of your personal information, and object or request portability where applicable. You can object to optional statistics using the control above. Contact aaron@ringgeospatial.com; we may need information to locate the relevant record.
